US Affairs with FDA & NAFTA

NAFTA or the North American Free Trade Agreement assists in protecting the capability of the United States affairs with the Food and Drug Administration to make sure that the food in the North America is of high quality and safe. NAFTA is an agreement between United States, Canada and Mexico for the purpose of increasing the capacity to make the trade flow freely and to enhance investment between these three nations. The North American Free Trade Agreement took effect from the year 1994. The United States affairs (FDA’s discussion with NAFTA) has appraised the FDA standards for safety, appropriate labeling of food and purity and came to a conclusion that the standards are consistent with the conditions of the agreement.

United States Affairs with NAFTA and FDA

The United States affairs (NAFTA) do not think that there should be any changes to the present and future standards of the FDA of the United States affairs regarding the use of pesticide, contaminant standards or any chemical residue in processed or fresh foods. The provision of the United States affairs (NAFTA) protects the capability of the United States FDA to make sure that the foods are safe. In other words, the United States affairs will carry on using the present US FDA Standards for domestically produced and imported foods. In other words, the United States affairs will keep going to ban any shipments of food that does not meet the requirements of food safety. In the area of proper classification of human and animal drugs and medical devices, effectiveness and safety; the NAFTA has no say in the United States affairs of FDA regulations and laws.

All the items that get in to the US market have to comply with all the standards and requirements of the FDA and United States affairs. The United States affairs are such that NAFTA can not alter the FDA food safety.
